@Bella1001, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you have installed Windows 11 on your HP Chromebook 11 and want to return to using ChromeOS, you will need to perform a recovery to restore the original operating system and software. Follow the steps below for a successful recovery process:

Prerequisites

  • A USB flash drive or SD memory card with a capacity of 4 GB or greater. Ensure all data from this storage device is backed up before you begin as it will be erased during the recovery process.
  • Internet access for downloading the recovery utility and ChromeOS.
  • Computer with administrative rights to install the recovery utility.

Recovering ChromeOS Using Recovery Media

Download Chromebook Recovery Utility:

  • Open the Chrome Web Store on any computer.
  • Search for "Chromebook Recovery Utility" and select it from the Apps list.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility.

Create Recovery Media:

  • Launch the Chromebook Recovery Utility.
  • Select "Get Started" and follow the prompts to create your recovery media using a USB flash drive or SD memory card.
  • Ensure all data and partitions on your recovery media are deleted. Do not remove the USB flash drive or SD memory card until the process is complete.

Prepare Your Chromebook for Recovery:

  • Disconnect any external devices connected to your Chromebook.
  • Plug in the power cord and turn on the Chromebook.
  • Press and hold the esc + refresh (f3) keys, then press the power button. The Chromebook will restart, and the screen should display "ChromeOS is missing or damaged".

Recovering ChromeOS:

  • Insert the recovery media into your Chromebook.
  • The recovery process will begin automatically.
  • Wait while Chrome verifies the integrity of the recovery media.
  • If an error message is displayed, you might need to run the Chromebook Recovery Utility again or use a different USB flash drive or SD memory card.

Complete Recovery:

  • When the "System Recovery is complete" message appears, remove the recovery media.
  • The Chromebook will restart with ChromeOS reinstalled.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
