Hi!
Most of our notebook/laptop does not come with any recovery CD anymore. In fact, it is normally store in a special partition where during boot up, press F11/F12 can actually help to get back to recovery and reformat the HDD for C drive.
Now i plan to replace my current HDD/SSD to a bigger size and i wonder how can i copy and restore that emergency partition into my new HDD/SDD? I am afraid if i don't copy that emergency/restore partition to new drive, in case of Windows crashed or anything unexpected happen, i cannot boot up and i may have to restore the whole laptop to original factory default settings.
Thanks!

Hello @Nkboy
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Community.
You cannot transfer the recovery partition from one HDD to another that easily. It might be possible with software that clones your existing HDD to the new SSD - such software is called CloneZilla >> https://clonezilla.org/
However, it is considered an advanced tool
HP does not support or recommend the built-in recovery (HP Recovery) anymore. Please, check details regarding the official position and description here >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Recovery-in-Windows-10/ta-p/7061284
Options for recovery are:
- Standard Windows reinstallation or Windows Reset >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04742289
- HP Cloud Recovery - Business models >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05115630
- HP Cloud Recovery - Home class devices >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205
- Fresh clean Windows reinstallation >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/EliteBook-very-slow-after-drive...
- Windows System Image (1) >> https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows...
- Windows System Image (2) >> https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4241/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-7/
- Windows System Image (3) >> https://support.hp.com/id-en/document/c03544793
Personally, I recommend you use either Windows clean reinstallation or Windows system image
Hope this helps.
