Hi @Ammuch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP laptop might be experiencing an issue where files are being redirected to the Recycle Bin. Here are a few things you can check to troubleshoot this problem.
- Check for Malware: Sometimes malware or viruses can cause unusual behavior. Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out any infections.
- File Associations: Make sure that file associations are correctly set up. Right-click on a file, select "Open with," and choose the appropriate application. You might also want to reset file associations to their default settings.
- Check Shortcuts: If you're using shortcuts to access files, ensure they are not pointing to the Recycle Bin. You can right-click the shortcut, select "Properties," and check the "Target" field.
- Check File Permissions: Ensure you have the appropriate permissions to access the files. Right-click the file, select "Properties," go to the "Security" tab, and check the permissions for your user account.
- Check Recycle Bin Settings: Open the Recycle Bin, click on "Manage," and check the settings to ensure nothing unusual is set.
- System File Check: Run a System File Checker scan to check for corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow, then press Enter.
- Check for Software Conflicts: If you recently installed new software, it might be causing conflicts. Try uninstalling any recent applications to see if that resolves the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
