Hi, everyone I'm having an issue with my hp omen 15 2018 laptop, its battery is completely dead i ordered one in the meantime kept it plugged in since the laptop couldn't work with a battery (solely using ac) i also started getting another issue popping up "cooling fan not operating correctly" i opened the laptop cleaned it and changed the thermal paste it worked fine but the issue was still present after a while even though the fans were operating correctly, the other day i started a the laptop it worked then it shut down now it's failing to start when i press the start button it glows red then it shuts down and checking the battery indicator button it never changes from red to white no matter how long i charge it also when i start the laptop and i look at the battery indicator it goes off just before the laptop shuts down, my question is the issue here the battery being completely drained or this is another component issue?

Hi @1JAKY,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Product. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Based on the symptoms you've described, it seems like there could be multiple issues affecting your HP Omen 15 laptop:
- Battery Issue: It's possible that the battery you ordered might be faulty or not properly charging. If the laptop is not able to start even when plugged into AC power (solely using AC power without a battery), this could indicate a problem with the power delivery system or the AC adapter itself.
- Power Delivery or AC Adapter Issue: If the laptop is not able to stay powered on even when connected to AC power, there might be an issue with the AC adapter or the power jack on the laptop.
- Overheating and Cooling Fan Issue: The initial problem with the cooling fan not operating correctly could indicate a thermal issue that might have affected other components, especially if the laptop has shut down unexpectedly before.
- Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
- Check AC Adapter: Ensure that the AC adapter you're using is functioning correctly. Try using a different compatible adapter to see if the issue persists.
- Power Jack: Inspect the power jack on the laptop for any physical damage or loose connections. Sometimes, the connection between the power jack and the motherboard can become compromised.
- Battery Troubleshooting: Since the laptop is not starting even when plugged into AC power, it's essential to ensure the battery is charging correctly. Try removing the battery and only using AC power to see if the laptop powers on. If it does, then the issue might be with the battery.
- Reset Power Management: Sometimes, resetting the power management settings in the BIOS or through specific hardware reset procedures recommended by HP can resolve power-related issues.
- Hardware Inspection: Since you've already cleaned the laptop and changed the thermal paste, ensure that there are no loose connections or debris that could be causing a short circuit or poor electrical contact.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
