Hp pavilion laptop flashing blue screen; hard reset not working

HP Recommended
Hp pavilion dv7-4087 cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
-Opened my laptop and turned it on. Nothing happened. Black screen.
-Pressed ctrl/alt/del hoping for task manager. Nothing happened.
-Pressed Windows button. Blue screen began flashing. Can’t get out of flashing blue screen. No error message. No buttons seem to work.
-Looked up problem on hp website. Attempted hard reset twice. Nothing changed. Still have flashing blue screen.

-FYI: •Running Windows 10 but should really go down to a previous OS. It’s too much for this older laptop. •originally ran Windows 7 •tried completely resetting laptop recently with thx help of Microsoft tech support. It’s never been stable since Win 10 was installed. It also did not respond to the reset.

Please help. I’m desperately job hunting and my laptop is vital to this process. It’s my only laptop.

Hi

So what OS are you running?

Is the F11 option viable?

A complete reset did what, Factory Fresh back to W7, failed and stayed with W10?

I suggest a Power Off and then restart and press ESC and then F2 for a diagnostic on the Hard Disk.

If in doubt please ask.

ISO images of various Microsoft OS's are available.

and a HOW2 is here...

Hi @bellanicky512

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

As mentioned by @CF4, I recommend you to perform first a hardware diagnostics to rule out potential hardware issues.

- Please, shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off)

- Power the computer back on.

As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu

- Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test.

This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) .

* Here is a video example >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JXUp43ahHA

If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD (hard disk drive) and RAM check (memory check).

Let me know the results. If the tests pass without issues, continue. If not, please, let me know

If the tests pass and if you want to restore to Windows 7:

- you can purchase HP original recovery media which will restore your PC to Windows 7 and will reinstall drivers and some apps. The kit costs ~27 $ and can be purchased from here >> http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-21105-windows-7-64b-recovery-kit-614702-001-for-hp-pavilion-entert...

- once you receive the kit, boot from the first disc (Esc/F9) and follow the instructions - here are detailed instructions how to complete the process >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net&section=ccweb&sfs=tdoc&lc=en&language=e...

P.S.  The Recovery process will erase the content of your HDD. If you don't have an external back-up of your data and if need to back-up your files prior to the procedure, let me know.

Hope this helps. Looking forward to your feedback and update.
