My laptop is a hp spectre 360x model 13-aw0008ca. It will not charge or turn on. Before the power button was flashing on and off for 3 seconds each. It is no longer doing that and just beeps 1 long beep and or 1 long beep and 2 short beeps when plugged in.

Hi @Clare59

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Power Reset

  • Disconnect All Accessories: Unplug any peripherals, including external monitors, USB devices, and the power adapter.
  • Perform a Hard Reset:
    • Disconnect the power adapter.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power adapter and try to power on the laptop.

2. Check Power Adapter and Charging Port

  • Inspect the Adapter: Make sure the charging cable is securely connected and inspect it for any visible damage.
  • Test the Adapter: If possible, try using a different compatible HP power adapter to see if that resolves the issue.

3. Battery Health Check

  • If the laptop has a removable battery, take it out and then try to power on the laptop with just the power adapter connected. If it turns on, the battery may be the issue.

4. Understand Beep Codes

  • The beep codes you mentioned (1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps) typically indicate a hardware failure, such as a memory issue or motherboard problem. Consult the HP support site or user manual for specific beep code meanings for your model.

5. Try a Different Power Source

  • Plug the laptop into a different outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.

6. Perform Hardware Diagnostics

  • If the laptop powers on, run HP’s built-in diagnostics:
    • Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the startup menu.
    • Select F2 for diagnostics and run a full system test.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
