Model: HP Laptop 15-fc0016nt (7Q9K8EA)

When I try to update my BIOS from the HP website, I have realized that there are 2 executables listed under BIOS for this device. And both of them refuse to flash both inside Windows and as a recovery USB. I have also tried to execute the .efi file manually with the "boot to file" option; but, it straight up told me that it cannot find the update file. I was under the impression that this task should have been easy from Windows. I have also recognized that the Walpaper on the computer image (on the support webpage) has been modified. What is going on with this computers BIOS page? Is there a way to force a flash with aa 3rd party utility from Windows (or Linux, even better), since the official ones are so useless that it cannot recognize its own hardware.

Hi @Ahmutkadim,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that your HP Laptop 15‑fc0016nt (7Q9K8EA) is failing BIOS updates. let's go through a few checks.

Attempt BIOS Recovery

Touch + Sight: Press the Windows + B keys together while holding the power button for about 2-3 seconds, then release the power button but keep holding the keys.

If successful, the laptop may beep, and you will see a BIOS recovery screen.

Follow the prompts to recover or reset the BIOS.

Use HP Support Assistant, sometimes the in‑app updater pulls the correct package even when the website lists multiple.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Hi,

While I appriciate the attempt at helping, I need to ask whether I am giving the product name of the computer for nothing? This computer has an AMI BIOS and it cannot do neither a network recovery nor a self recovery, when I tried your method, the screen said that it expects a recovery usb, which brings us to where my problem has begun. I assume that somehow HP has published the wrong BIOS files on their website, can somebody fix it, or give me the correct file which would allow me to create a bootable USB recovery media? I still do not understand how the same model can have 2 seperate BIOS upgrade tools and neither of them do work.

If you have other suggestions as well, I am all ears.

Let me repeat myself one more time, if both exe s are listed as "BIOS" meaning that there cannot be a distinction between bios vs firmware since there was also a "Firmware" tab. Even in the event that one or both exe s are valid, it does not solve my problem; because, as I state again, I tried BOTH of the exe s and NEITHER  of them accept my BIOS as being compatible. Should not this process be easy since this is a consumer-grade laptop? Why is it this complicated?

Hi @Ahmutkadim,

Let me clarify the situation with your HP Laptop 15‑fc0016nt (7Q9K8EA) BIOS update:

The reason you see two BIOS executables on the support page is that HP posts packages for different system board IDs or hardware sub‑variants under the same model family. If neither package flashes, it means the posted files currently do not match your board ID, this is why the installer refuses to proceed and why the EFI boot option cannot locate a valid image.

You can safely perform BIOS recovery.
