@D-black, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Restart your Laptop: Try restarting your laptop by holding down the power button for a few seconds until it turns off completely. Then, turn it back on to see if it progresses past the HP screen.
Disconnect External Devices: Remove any external devices that are connected to the laptop, such as USB drives or external hard disks. Sometimes these devices can interfere with the boot process.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately start pressing the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter to boot your laptop in Safe Mode.
Check for Hard Drive Issues: If you can access the BIOS/UEFI settings, you can run a test on your hard drive:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the Escape (Esc) key repeatedly.
- In the Startup menu, press the F2 key to access the System Diagnostics.
- Select the "Hard Drive Test" to check for any errors.
Reset the BIOS/UEFI settings: Sometimes a reset can help:
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing the appropriate key (often F10, F2, or Del) as the computer starts.
- Look for an option to "Reset to Default" or "Load Default Settings."
- Save and exit, then allow your laptop to try booting again.
Perform a System Restore: If you recently made changes or installed updates, a system restore might help:
- Boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt (similar to the way you boot into safe mode).
- Type rstrui.exe and press Enter to launch the System Restore tool.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
