Hi @Desmondd1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it can be when you can't access the BIOS, especially if you're trying to troubleshoot or change important settings. Let's walk through the most reliable ways to enter BIOS on your HP PC.

Steps to Access BIOS on HP PCs

1. Use the Correct Key at Startup

  • Turn off your PC completely.
  • Turn it back on, and immediately start pressing the Esc key repeatedly (about once per second).
  • This should bring up the Startup Menu.
  • From there, press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

If Esc doesn’t work, try F10 directly during startup.

2. Use Windows Advanced Startup (if BIOS key doesn’t work)

If your keyboard isn’t responding during boot or the screen is blank:

  • Go to Settings > System > Recovery
  • Under Advanced startup, click Restart now
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings
  • Click Restart. This will boot directly into BIOS

3. Check for Fast Boot or Modern Standby

Some HP systems boot so quickly that the BIOS key doesn’t register:

  • Try holding down the BIOS key (Esc or F10) before pressing the power button
  • Or disable Fast Startup in Windows:
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
    • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
    • Uncheck Turn on fast startup

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
