I had to purchase a new computer because my old one had Windows 10 and wouldn't support Windows 11.  Apparently when the files were transferred over, the files for my printer were not transferred and now I can not print, scan or copy.  When I go to the icons on my desktop associated with my printer it tells me that the path can not be found.  How can I get this fixed?

@bee2nd2no1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like the drivers and software for your HP printer didn’t get transferred correctly to your new computer, and now it's not able to find the necessary paths. Don’t worry, you can usually fix this by reinstalling the printer drivers and software.

Here's how to do it step by step for an HP printer on Windows 11:

Uninstall Any Existing Printer Software

Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features.

Find any printer-related software (e.g., HP Smart, HP Printer Drivers) and click Uninstall to remove them.

Reconnect the Printer

If your printer is connected via USB, unplug and replug it into your computer.

If you're using a wireless printer, ensure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your new computer.

Download the Latest HP Printer Drivers

Go to the HP Support website: Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support.

In the search box, type in your printer model (for example, HP DeskJet 2755, HP LaserJet Pro MFP).

Select your printer model from the list and navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section.

Select Windows 11 as your operating system (if it doesn’t auto-select) and download the latest printer driver and HP software.

Install the Drivers

Once the drivers are downloaded, open the installation file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Choose USB or Wireless connection, depending on how your printer is connected.

The setup process should automatically detect your printer and install the necessary software and drivers.

Set the Printer as Default

After installation, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Select your HP printer from the list and click Set as default if it’s not already set.

Test the Printer

Try printing a test page to make sure everything works. You can do this by right-clicking the printer in Printers & Scanners and selecting Print a test page.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
