My laptop got stuck on a blue screen with failed repair after a fault. Someone on here showed me how to re install windows. It got as far as trying to connect to a network but doesn't recognise any wifi networks.  It is asking me to install a network adapter driver.  I have looked on HP website, but there seem to be several options and I don't know which one. I only have my work laptop (not HP) to try and download the driver onto.

See this link for how to bypass the internet connection requirement finish setting up Windows using a local account.

How to bypass internet connection to install Windows 11 - Pureinfotech

After you are in Windows, if you don't know what model Wi-Fi adapter driver your notebook needs, go to the device manager.

Under an 'Other devices' category, you will find a device labeled as a Network controller.

That is the wireless adapter in need of a driver.

Post the hardware ID for that device and I will post the link to the driver you need for it.

Ok, we downloaded the drivers onto a USB stick from husbands laptop, but the computer doesn't recognise they are on the USB

I followed another link (not sure if it was you or someone else who replied) advising how to get into windows without Internet which I've done, but I don't know how to make the computer recognise the drivers on the USB stick.

My mouse pad/keyboard also doesnt work normally. It only works if I plug in a USB mouse/keyboard. Otherwise i have keyboard function but no mouse.

Laptop hasnt worked since June 😒 i need it for uni.

Copy the files you copied to the USB flash drive, plug it into your PCs USB port.

Then copy and paste the files from the USB flash drive to your PC's Windows desktop and double click on the files one at a time to install the drivers.

Thank you. That worked. Really appreciate it.

Now to see about the mouse/keyboard..... will that be a driver issue too?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

Yes, most likely some drivers need to be installed.

Go to your notebook's support page and download the driver for the touchpad which should also install the mouse drivers.

HP Recommended

Mouse/keyboard ok now.

Thanks for your help and prompt replies.
