Hi @Idksomething, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The unlock password requirement you're seeing is likely a BIOS/UEFI password prompt, which prevents you from making changes to the boot order or installing a new OS. The code 62856187 is a system-generated hash that can be used to derive the BIOS unlock password.

To unlock your Compaq 702TU, follow these steps:

1. Use a BIOS Password Generator

  • You can use online BIOS password calculators that generate a backdoor password from the system-generated code.
  • One such site is BIOS-PW.org:
    1. Visit the site.
    2. Enter the code 62856187.
    3. It will generate possible passwords for you.
    4. Try the provided passwords one by one.

2. Reset the BIOS (Manual Method)

If the password generator doesn’t work, you can try resetting the BIOS manually:

  • Method A: Remove the CMOS Battery
    1. Power off the laptop and unplug it.
    2. Open the back panel and locate the small CMOS battery (usually a coin cell battery).
    3. Remove the battery for about 10-15 minutes.
    4. Reinsert the battery and power on the laptop.
    5. The BIOS password should now be cleared.
  • Method B: Use BIOS Jumper or DIP Switch
    • Some older Compaq laptops have a BIOS reset jumper or DIP switch on the motherboard.
    • If you can find it (marked as CLR_CMOS, Jumper 1, or similar), short it for a few seconds.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
