Hi @marie234456,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop won't power on even after charging for a while, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger from the laptop.
  • Remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger (or just the charger if the battery isn't removable), then try turning it on.

Check Charger and Port

  • Ensure the charger is connected securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Inspect the charger and cable for visible damage.
  • Test the charger with another compatible laptop, or test your laptop with a different charger.

Inspect Charging Indicators

  • Look for lights on the laptop or charger.
    • If there’s no charging light, the issue may be with the charger, the power port, or the laptop's internal power circuit.

Remove External Devices

  • Disconnect any USB devices, SD cards, or external peripherals, as these can sometimes cause power issues.

Use an Alternate Power Source

  • Try plugging the charger into a different outlet.
  • If you're using a surge protector, bypass it to rule out issues.

Test with a Different Battery

  • If your laptop has a removable battery and you can access another one, swap it out to see if the battery is the issue.

Boot Without the Battery (if removable)

  • Remove the battery, plug the laptop directly into the charger, and try turning it on.

Inspect for Overheating

  • If the laptop overheated previously, it might not turn on until it cools down. Let it sit for a while and try again.

Check for Physical Damage

  • Inspect the laptop’s power port for loose connections or debris.
  • Look for signs of physical damage to the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
