HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0018tu

I recently updated my OS to Windows 11. On startup, it can't find my camera so the facial recognition I used to open my PC with doesn't work anymore. Also, Teams didn't recognize my camera when I tried to talk with a client.

@Case5,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Community! 🎉

I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:

Check Device Manager for Camera Issues

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and choosing it.
  • Expand Imaging Devices and right-click your camera, then click Properties.
  • Right-click your camera in Device Manager and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts.
  • If no updates are found, right-click your camera again, select Uninstall device, and restart your laptop.
  • After restarting, Windows should reinstall the driver from HP Support website.

Check Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings by pressing Win + I.
  • Select Privacy & security > Camera.
  • Make sure Let apps access your camera is On.

Check Camera in Teams

  • Open Microsoft Teams, go to your profile, and choose Settings.
  • In Settings, go to Devices, and make sure your camera is selected.
  • To fix facial recognition, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

Re-enable Facial Recognition

  • Under Windows Hello Face, click Set up and follow the prompts.
  • Restart your computer to apply the changes.
