Hi @CatTiki,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the update might have caused some driver or hardware conflicts. Let's try the following steps to troubleshoot.

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Look for any devices under Mice and other pointing devices and Batteries (for the power cord).
  • If you see any devices with a yellow warning sign, right-click and choose Update driver or Uninstall device (then restart your laptop).

Power Cycle:

  • Unplug the laptop from the power cord and remove any connected peripherals (including the mouse).
  • Hold the power button down for 15 seconds to reset any temporary settings.
  • Plug the power cord back in and restart the laptop.

USB Port and Power Settings:

  • Ensure the mouse is plugged into a working USB port.
  • Check Power Settings: Go to Control Panel > Power Options, then click Change plan settings next to your current plan, and choose Change advanced power settings. Make sure settings for USB selective suspend are turned off.

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Visit HP Support and look for any updates for your laptop’s mouse or power adapter drivers (under Mouse and Battery sections). Install them if available.

Check BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during startup).
  • Look for any settings that might have been reset, like power management or USB settings, and reset them to default if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
