@VK1008, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you choose the "Reset this PC" option on your HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg2035TU, it offers a way to reinstall the operating system, effectively resetting your device back to its original state when you first bought it. Here's what you need to know:

Reset this PC Option:

  • This option allows you to either keep your files or remove everything and reinstall the operating system. It will typically reset the device to its factory settings.

Recovery Drive:

  • Many HP laptops come with a pre-installed recovery partition. This partition holds the system image used for resetting your laptop to its factory settings. You may not need a recovery disk if this partition is intact and accessible.

Creating Recovery Media:

  • If you have not created a recovery disk and would like to have a backup, you can still create recovery media using HP's Recovery Manager or Windows built-in recovery options. This is useful for future troubleshooting or if the recovery partition is compromised.

Steps to Reset:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Recovery."
  • Under "Reset this PC," click on "Get started" and choose either "Keep my files" or "Remove everything."

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

thanks for the detailed response.I can see the recovery partition here.

So if I try to reset my PC without any recovery media would I be able to reset my pc to it's factory setting?

Hello @VK1008

Yes, since your HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg2035TU has a visible recovery partition, you can reset your PC to its factory state without needing external recovery media. The built-in recovery partition contains the system image required to reinstall Windows and restore factory settings.

Here’s how it works and what to expect:

What Happens When You Use “Reset This PC”

1. Factory Reset Without Recovery Disk

  • The recovery partition will be used to reinstall Windows.
  • You’ll be given two options:
    • Keep my files – reinstalls Windows but retains your personal files.
    • Remove everything – performs a full reset, erasing all files and settings.

Either option will reinstall the OS using the recovery partition, so no external disk is needed.

2. How to Start the Reset

  • Go to Settings > System > Recovery
  • Under Reset this PC, click Get started
  • Choose your preferred reset option

The process may take 30–60 minutes depending on your storage speed and selected option.

Note:

  • Apps and drivers: Factory-installed HP apps and drivers will be restored.
  • Recovery partition: As long as it’s intact and not deleted or corrupted, it will handle the reset.
  • Backup: If you choose “Remove everything,” back up any important files first.

Let me know if you'd like help choosing between the reset options or preparing a backup checklist. You're doing everything right—this reset should help restore your laptop’s performance and responsiveness.
