@Omer000, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To install an operating system on a hard disk, follow these general steps. Please note that this is a broad guideline, and the exact steps may vary based on the specific operating system you are installing.

Requirements:

  • A computer with a compatible hard disk.
  • An installation medium (like a USB drive or DVD) with the operating system's installation files.
  • A valid product key or license if needed.

Steps:

Prepare Installation Media:

  • Download the operating system from the official website (e.g., Windows, Linux distributions).
  • Use a tool (like Rufus for Windows or Balena Etcher for Linux/other OS) to create a bootable USB drive or burn the image to a DVD.

Backup Data:

  • Ensure any important data on your hard disk is backed up, as installation typically involves formatting the disk.

Boot from Installation Media:

  • Insert the installation media into the computer.
  • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing keys like F2, F10, ESC, or DEL immediately after powering on).
  • Set the boot order to boot from the USB drive or DVD before the hard disk.
  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.

Start Installation:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to start the installation process.
  • Select language, time and currency format, and input method.
  • Click "Next" and then "Install Now."

Choose Installation Type:

  • Generally, you can choose between upgrading (if you're installing over an existing OS) or performing a clean install (recommended for a new setup).
  • For a clean install, select "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)" or equivalent for other OS.

Partition the Hard Disk:

  • You can choose where the OS should be installed.
  • Usually, select the partition to which you want to install the OS or create a new partition if required.
  • Follow the instructions to format the partition if needed.

Complete Installation:

  • Follow the remaining prompts to complete the OS installation.
  • The computer will restart multiple times during the installation.
  • Configure language, time and date, and user settings when prompted.

Install Drivers and Updates:

  • Once the OS is installed, download and install any necessary drivers from the HP website.
  • Ensure that the OS is updated with the latest patches and updates.
