HP notebook 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I locked myself out of my laptop on Saturday.  I have found the password and I've waited the two hours with it plugged in and it is not accepting my password. I have tried this several times. The screen says leave the laptop plugged in at least two hours, reset and try again. This has been going on since Sunday. Am I doomed to reboot my laptop ? No I do not have a recovery disk.

Hello PorterM,

Are you using a Microsoft sign in account or a Local account?

Microsoft accounts can be changed from any computer by going to this link...

https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx

If this is a Local account, I cannot help you alter that password on the HP forum.

There are plenty of programs available on the net you can search for yourself that will do that.

Or you can always do an HP recovery back to factory, but that will also delete all personal files not backed up to a different source.

It was a local account. I was able to take it in to the store and they were able to fix the problem and create a recovery disk for me. It helps that it's still under warranty. Thanks for the help.
