Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have (very) old software which cannot be run under Win 10 64 Bit. Is it possible to overwrite Win 10 with Win 7?

Hi:

It's possible, but I can't 100% guarantee that everything is going to work.

If you want to give it a try, then this is what you need to do...

Go into the BIOS, enable Legacy Mode and disable Secure Boot.   W7 is not compatible with secure boot.

See this link for the settings to change.

https://www.support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736054/

Then you should be able to install W7.

Then see if these W7 drivers work...

Chipset:  Scroll down the page, select the W7 x64 AMD Chipset drivers, install and restart the PC.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-9-series-chipsets/990fx

Graphics:  Select the W7 x64 driver, install and restart the PC.

Audio: Accept the agreement, download and install the Windows 64 bit driver file and restart the PC.

Ethernet: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the W7 driver file at the link below...

SD card reader: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the 1st driver file listed at the link below...

Wifi:

Bluetooth:

I think this is the W7 touchpad driver...

If you are not happy with the outcome, you can go back to W10 by making recovery media using the HP cloud recovery client utility.

Here is a link for how to use that utility.
