Hi @SweetDevil1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion laptop keyboard isn’t working at all. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps:

Check for External Keyboard

Connect a USB keyboard.

If the external keyboard works, the issue is likely with the built-in keyboard hardware or driver.

Restart Your Laptop

Sometimes a simple restart fixes temporary glitches.

Shut down completely → wait 30 seconds → power on.

Check Device Manager

Press Win + X → Device Manager → Keyboards.

Look for your laptop keyboard.

If you see a yellow exclamation mark, right-click → Update driver or Uninstall device → restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Check Touchscreen / Function Key Lock

Some HP laptops have Fn + F11/F12 or Fn + Esc to toggle keyboard or function key behavior.

Try pressing Fn + Esc to unlock function key settings.

Test in BIOS / UEFI

Restart and press Esc → F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.

Try using the keyboard inside BIOS (arrow keys, enter, etc.).

If it doesn’t work in BIOS, it’s likely hardware-related.

Perform a Hard Reset

Power off the laptop and unplug it.

Remove the battery if possible (or just unplug power).

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.

Reconnect power and turn on.

I hope this helps.
