I turned it off after using it and when I powered it on again it was stuck on the boot screen I forced turned it off

And now it won't come on it will show lights on the power button, wireless button and speaker but no keyboard lights and after the lights go off the charge light shows white for a while and then the whole process happens again

Hi @SylvesterDavid,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how unsettling it can be when your HP laptop suddenly refuses to boot properly, especially when it was working just fine moments before. From what you've described, lights on the power button, wireless button, and speaker, but no keyboard lights, followed by a white charging light and a repeating cycle, it sounds like your laptop may be stuck in a firmware or POST (Power-On Self-Test) loop, possibly due to:

  • A corrupted BIOS or bootloader
  • A failed update or shutdown
  • A hardware initialization issue

Let’s try these steps one by one:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware connections.

  • Disconnect the charger and any peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering on.

2. Try BIOS Recovery (Windows Key + B Method)

This is especially helpful if the BIOS is corrupted.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press and hold the Windows key + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Keep holding Windows + B until you hear beeps or see the screen flash.
  • If successful, the BIOS recovery screen will appear.

If this doesn’t work, try Windows key + V instead.

3. Check for Caps Lock Blink Codes

If the Caps Lock key blinks in a pattern, it may indicate a hardware error. Count the blinks and let me know the pattern (e.g., 3 long, 2 short).

4. Try External Display

If the internal display isn’t initializing, connect to an external monitor via HDMI or USB-C to check if the system is booting but not displaying.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
