Laptop shuts itself off and then reboots

pavilion dv7-6c95dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

No problem starting or running applications. But as I work emails, or website research. The laptop just shuts off and then reboots. This event can happen 2 times in hour of operations; then other times it may be several days before it shuts off. It is frustrating as one is working mail or applications and shuts off.

My personal opinion, has something to do with the video card??

getting concerned and need a fix.

@12panther2012

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that your HP Pavilion dv7 notebook reboots. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

Which browser re you using to open emails?

Meanwhile:

Run a hardware diagnostics on the notebook.

Click here and refer the document to perform hardware diagnostics.

Update the bios and  drivers.

Run HP Support Assistant to update bios and driver automatically.

Click here to download and to know how to use HP Support assistant.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

I have completed all the tests and now the laptop is working like it should. I have printed instructions, incase this occurs again.

Thanks for your advice.
