HP OmniBook 7 Flip 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 16-au0000 (AK4J6AV)

News articles dated August 14, 2025 state that Intel has updated their PL1 / PL2 profiles to yield 10-30% increases in gaming performance by having the PL2 profile run 1 watt higher than PL1.

Articles state to reach out to your laptop manufacturer to confirm if this update has been released for your system.

I would like for HP to confirm if this is updated for my laptop.  (If they don't make the update I might return the laptop to Costco for a model that does).

Laptop is: HP OmniBook 7 Flip 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 16-au0000 (AK4J6AV)

Latest BIOS is installed from 2 months ago (F.07)Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 258V
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
Windows 11 is fully updated  KB5063878 (26100.4946)

Omen gaming hub latest version is August 5, 2025 and does not mention anything about PL2 performance update. [link edited] for reference

Hi @ztbishop

This is an excellent and very specific question regarding the cutting-edge Intel performance profile updates.

The power limits (PL1/PL2) are controlled by the system's BIOS and thermal management firmware, and while Intel recommends the change, HP must implement and release it.

While you are running BIOS F.07 (from two months ago), the Intel news articles were published more recently, on August 14, 2025. It is highly likely the profile update would be in a BIOS version newer than F.07.

Regularly check the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your specific model. Look for a new BIOS update (e.g., F.08 or later). The release notes for that BIOS update will mention any significant changes to thermal management, power limits, or performance profiles.

Alternatively, you may also check the windows update section on your computer's settings page. Also, check the optional updates section as well.

Hope this helps
