I had the same issue with my HP laptop. What worked for me was updating the BIOS and also reinstalling the latest chipset drivers from the HP Support page. After that, the performance improved a lot. You can also try disabling unnecessary startup apps—it makes a noticeable difference

@SpotifyPremium, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is running slow after a Windows 11 update, you're not alone this can happen due to outdated drivers, BIOS, or unnecessary background apps. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you restore performance:

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Outdated BIOS or chipset drivers can cause performance issues after major Windows updates.

  • Visit the official HP Drivers & Software page: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your laptop’s model number and download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • Install them one by one and restart your laptop after each installation.

Use HP Support Assistant for Performance Tune-Up

HP offers a built-in tool to optimize your system.

  • Download or open HP Support Assistant: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  • Run the Performance Tune Check to:
    • Delete junk files
    • Optimize memory usage
    • Control startup apps
    • Reduce internal heat

Disable Unnecessary Startup Apps

Apps that launch at startup can slow down boot time and overall performance.

Method 1: Using Settings

  1. Open SettingsAppsStartup
  2. Toggle off apps you don’t need at startup

Method 2: Using Task Manager

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
  2. Go to the Startup tab
  3. Right-click and Disable apps with high impact

Additional Tips

  • Uninstall unused apps via Settings → Apps → Installed Apps
  • Free up disk space using Storage Sense
  • Change power plan to “High Performance” in Control Panel → Power Options
  • Scan for malware using Windows Security
