HP Laptop 14 LAPTOP-SDC11PEC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is is running very slowly. Graphics and images in emails take a long time to load, if at all. Also linking to items in emails take much longer than usual to open. Using Fast.com, the internet speed is currently 45Mbps. It has been worse as well. My iPhone is at 97Mbps. Any thoughts?

Hi. I was able to do the optimization process and all seems to be working much better now, though the speed still shows to be only 47 where my phone is at 97.

Yes, that's right. Your machine is an HP Notebook - 14-cf0006dx, its specs

        https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06254889

It has  4 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) and 128 GB M.2 SSD. The first thing you can do now is to upgrade RAM using the following compatible RAM (will run at 2133MHz)

                  https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfs824a/ct14633474

Its storage is only 128GB, even it has SATA M.2 SSD but still slow down a bit from time to time specially when less and less room for paging/swapping. You can upgrade to a larger SSD using the following compatible M.2 SSD drives:

          500GB :  https://www.crucial.com/ssd/p2/ct500p2ssd8/ct17273428

               1TB :  https://www.crucial.com/ssd/p2/ct1000p2ssd8/ct17276008

Regards.

I recently learned from someone else about editing group policy or local group policy to edit speed to 100. As I attempted that, I learned that my Windows 10 Home version doesn't have that capability without adding something called Policy Plus. Is this something  I can or should do?
