Hi @Mawalker16 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Spectre laptop not turning on but the power light indicates it’s charged, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue and attempt to boot your laptop:

May I Know

1. Since when are you facing this issue

2. Have you made any changes on your PC post that this issue raised

3. Do you see an HP Logo when you try to turn on the unit and then the screen goes blank or blue screen, If the Blue screen has observed any error message?

Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

After the above  troubleshooting steps if the unit  turns on

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the Power Adapter: Unplug the charger from the laptop.
  2. Remove the Battery (if possible): If your model has a removable battery, take it out.
  3. Press and Hold the Power Button: Hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  4. Reconnect the Battery and Power Adapter: If you removed the battery, reinsert it, then plug the charger back in.
  5. Try to Power On: Press the power button again to see if the laptop turns on.

2. Check for Display Issues

Sometimes the laptop might be on, but the display is not working. Try these:

  • Adjust the Brightness: Increase the brightness using the keyboard function keys (usually F2 or F3).
  • Connect to an External Display: If you have a monitor or TV, connect the laptop to it using HDMI or another compatible cable to check if the issue is with the laptop display.

3. Boot into Safe Mode

If the laptop shows signs of powering on but doesn’t boot into Windows:

  1. Interrupt the Boot Process: Start the laptop and as soon as you see the HP logo, press and hold the power button to force it off. Repeat this process 2-3 times.
  2. Automatic Repair: On the third boot, Windows should trigger the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen.
  3. Select Advanced Options: Choose "Advanced options" and then "Troubleshoot".
  4. Access Safe Mode: Go to "Advanced options" > "Startup Settings" > "Restart". After the laptop restarts, select the option for Safe Mode.

4. Run Windows Recovery Environment

If the laptop still won’t boot, you may need to access recovery options:

  1. Create a Bootable USB Drive: If you have access to another computer, create a Windows 11 installation media using a USB drive.
  2. Boot from USB: Connect the USB drive to your HP Spectre, restart the laptop, and enter the boot menu (usually by pressing F9 or Esc during startup) to select the USB drive.
  3. Repair Your Computer: Choose "Repair your computer" when prompted.

5. Check for Hardware Issues HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures

  • Listen for Beeps or Sounds: Any unusual beeping sounds can indicate a hardware problem.
  • Inspect the Ports: Ensure that there are no obstructions in the charging port or any other ports.

If none of these steps work, the issue may be related to a hardware failure

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
