To whom reading this,

Good evening, I need some help. My battery has a problem. I charged it but its battery will remain the same when charged and does not charge up more. Whenever I remove the plug, then its battery percent goes down. I am nervous when it drops to zero. What can i do to fix my battery? What should I do to charge my battery? It is now on 10%.

Hi @Yellow_Tumbler,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel the worry in your words. Watching your battery hover at 10% and not charge properly is genuinely stressful, especially when you rely on your HP notebook to stay connected and productive.

1. Check the Charger and Port

  • Use the original HP charger if possible.
  • Inspect the charging cable and port for dust, damage, or looseness.
  • Try a different wall outlet.

2. Perform a Battery Driver Reset

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Batteries.
  3. Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery → Click Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly as you power it on → Tap F2 for diagnostics.
  • Run the Battery Test and note any Failure ID.

4. Try Charging in BIOS

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Plug in the charger.
  • Power on and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc or F10).
  • Leave it in the BIOS for 30–60 minutes and see if the battery charges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
