Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My windows 7 laptop died so I changed the order of the boot order on my windows 10 laptop from the hard drive to cd/dvd for the purpose of trying to make a dual boot system.

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/292068-make-windows-7-bootable-after-motherboard-swap.html

But the laptop won;t boot from the cd/dvd drive at all. it completely ignores it even the order is changed. I see that the cd/dvd usb drive above the laptop's drive hard drive in the bios. But the laptop hard drive has a triangle next to it

How do I fix this so that i can boot frmo the dvd drivbe and use that software linked on that website?

Hi

This may be a Secure/Legacy Boot issue.

So do you have 2 listings for boot devices?

I bet you didn't.

  • The Computer Setup Utility closes and the computer restarts. When the computer has restarted, the Operating System Boot Mode Change screen appears, prompting you to confirm the Boot Options change. Type the code shown on the screen, then press Enter to confirm the change and continue to Windows.

So whaich option did  you choose????

I've enetred the code shown on my screen.

I did this twice already. First time I messed up and choose the usb cd drive as shown on the instruction. so I reset to default and choose the internal cd rom as the top boot device.

Both times, it showed me that code step which I entered correctly. Neither times has the internal cd rom drive shown up in the boot device menu.

everything showing on the boot device menu is attached up there in my earlier post, and the internal cd rom isn't there.
