HP Elitebook 2540P
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For some reason I am having problems finding the correct driver for PCI SERIAL PORT on my HP Elitebook 2540P Product Number BT075US#ABA Bios Revision F60. I have searched and some driver links were broken and others said they were not compatible with my version of the Elitebook 2540P, etc.. The Driver ID is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B67&SUBSYS_7008103C&REV_06

Please help!

Thanks!

Hi, @KyDude

You need this driver that I have zipped up and attached below.

You need to manually install the driver as follows...

Download and unzip the file I attached to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.   Click on the PCI serial port needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

The reason I did this is the driver file (sp59684) that contains this driver, installs both the Intel management engine interface and the PCI serial port for Windows 7.  There is no W10/8.1 or 8 driver for the PCI serial port.

But W10 automatically installs a much newer version of the Intel management engine interface driver, and if you were to run the W7 driver from your notebook's support page, you will get a message that you are trying to install an older version of the driver.

@KyDude

The HP specs I found for your PC do not include a serial port.  I think you might be confusing that with the VGA monitor port as they look very similar.
