New chromebook giving alert when turned on

Brand new chrome book, when turned on for the first time, there is an alert with a yellow exclamation point that states

”chrome is is missing or damaged. Please remove all connected devices and start recovery.”

called customer service for an hour and told they could not help and I had to do virtual chat.

Possibly the battery just was dead.

Let it charge then try a hard reset

• Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release.
• Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer.

if the problem still shows up then return it.

Thank you!  This didn’t work.  They won’t let me return it since it was a Christmas gift and the 30 days pass purchase was over before Christmas.  They will charge me 40 dollars to reset it.  It was delivered broken.  I’m obviously beyond frustrated 🙃
