@Aaaaaaaahhhh, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

That's a tough situation.
When a laptop falls and afterward shows SMART Hard Disk Error with imminent failure warnings, it usually means the hard drive was physically damaged in the fall.

Here's what's happening:
The SMART system (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) checks your hard drive’s health. When it reports an "imminent failure," it means the drive has bad sectors, read/write errors, or mechanical issues — likely due to the fall.

What you should do IMMEDIATELY:

Stop using the laptop — don't try to boot or stress the hard drive more.

Backup your data, if it’s still accessible.

  • If Windows still loads, copy your important files right away to an external drive or cloud.
  • If Windows doesn’t load but BIOS works, you can use a bootable Linux USB to try accessing the files.
  • Or remove the drive and connect it externally using a USB to SATA adapter.

Plan to replace the hard drive.

  • Hard drives cannot be "repaired" once physically damaged.
  • You'll need a new SSD or HDD.

Reinstall Windows on the new drive or restore from a backup if you have one.
We suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
