My laptop has a failing HD, it has failed dia with the  code 9GFV4W-7T79SL-MFPWMF-60SA03.  How do I recover the OS once I replace the HD?

Hi:

 

You can reinstall W10 for free by using the media creation tool at the link below to create a bootable W10 installation flash drive.

 

Make the 64 bit installer and when you go to install W10, select W10 Home from the list of operating systems to install.

 

You will not need to enter a product key since the key should be in your notebook's BIOS.

 

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Your other option would be to purchase recovery media from HP, but you would need to replace the drive with the same size as the one that died on you.
