If the Office version came preloaded, then it is most likely a TRIAL version and that does not activate because it expires.
If you bought the notebook from HP and you ordered Office installed on it, then a card would have come with it bearing the activation code. You then have to contact Microsoft to activate Office -- as we and HP have nothing to do with that.
If you bought Office, then again, you have to contact Microsoft.
