Hi @PatE11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be to be locked out of your HP Pavilion due to a password issue. Let's work together to get this resolved so you can regain access.

  • Is this issue happening after a recent update or change in your system settings?
  • Have you tried entering the PIN on the login screen directly, or is it only when prompted after the password that the issue occurs?
  • Have you set up any backup sign-in methods, such as a recovery email or security questions, to help regain access?

Let's try these steps.

Use a Different Keyboard:

  • If the issue is with entering the password or PIN correctly, try using an external keyboard or a different USB port to see if the keyboard is functioning properly.

Use the 'I Forgot My Password' Option:

  • If you're using a Microsoft account to sign in, click on "I forgot my password" or "Trouble signing in?" on the login screen. Follow the prompts to reset your password using your email or phone number.

Try Signing In with a PIN (If Setup):

  • On the login screen, click on the PIN option if available. If you remember your PIN, enter it and check if the system allows you to log in.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart the laptop and press F8 or Shift + F8 as it boots. If it works, boot into Safe Mode, where you might be able to reset your password or PIN through settings.

Use a System Restore Point:

  • If you’ve set up system restore points before, you can restore your system to an earlier state before the password issue occurred. This option can be accessed from the Advanced Startup Options menu.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

I cannot access my laptopas my password is not working. This is the very first screen.

It has number to put in A1B2C3.

I enter this & then it requests a pin number.

I have never had a pin number just my password. I enter this & it locks me out.

I reboot & it asks the same details.

Hi @PatE11 ,

We apologize for the inconvenience. The issue seems to persist even after attempting the troubleshooting steps mentioned above.

This might require one-on-one interaction via remote assistance to fix the issue over the phone.
