That is actually just a pointer to the Windows boot manager.
The boot order there is what determines what will boot unless it is bypassed by tapping on the F9 key immediately after powering on the notebook.

I tried recreating a boot USB using different options to no avail. Tapping F9 on startup just produces a blank Boot Option menu telling me to F10, back to square one. Looks like I'm going to have to finally admit defeat and give up completely. The hours spent on this with no result is so frustrating - and I don't give up easily! Thank you for all of your efforts anyway.

Hi guys, I pretty much have the same issue, bottable drive not detected from F9 menu and tryied all possible combinations in BIOS. Unable to boot form any media format, also tried to boot from a Linux bootable drive with no luck.
Any advise?

Lets check and see if the notebok is in the Cloud recovery suport list. Never mind, It does not appear to be.
I suspect that you meant to type GPT instead of GBT.
What are the letters after the 100 in the product name?
An alternative would be to look at the bottom of the ultrabook for the ProdID amongst the tiny letters.
ProdID is the product number without the country code.
Kindly post the ProdID in your next post in the thread.
You can also download the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and install it to a USB flash drive to use in diagnosing the "hard drive" issue. Since you are an IT Pro, I suggest creating the HP PC HARDWARE DIAGNOSTICS 4-IN-1 USB KEY.
Use the link at the line below this one to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics downloads. I would test the system board. USB ports and the hard drive in the Component test section.
