Pavilion x360 convertable 15-br052od
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Pavilion x360 convertable 15-br052od has black screen with error " Boot Device not found. Please install operating system on your Hard Disk <3F0> " ran F2 diagnostics and hard drive test says "No hard drive installed. Please check that the power and data cables are properly connected". I re-seated the hdd and no change. This occurred after windows 10 updates (i assume!) Would like to recover what i can off of the hard drive before replacing. Any advice on HOW to accomplish backup of data on the drive currently? I have never seen a hard drive that connects to the motherboard with a ribbon cable! Thanks, Kate

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to remove the SATA hard drive, purchase a SATA to USB cable, plug one end into to the drive and the other end into a working PC's USB port and see if you can read/copy the files you want to save onto the PC.

Something like this...

Amazon.com: USB 3.0 SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Cable, SATA to USB Adapter Cable for 2.5 inch SSD & ...

Thank you for responding! I already have the HDD out and have a docking station for IDE/SATA drives to USB, however! I Cannot get the 'adapter' for this laptop on this hard drive off to expose the sata connections! LOL

Suggestions so I don't break the adapter and can reuse it?
