Hi @zammm009,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a couple of issues after reinstalling Windows on your HP Envy x360, one of which involves the laptop not powering on when you open the screen. Here's how you can try to resolve it.

Check Power Settings:

Sometimes, the laptop might be configured to power on when opening the lid. If it's not powering on automatically, you might need to enable or re-enable that feature in the BIOS or Windows settings.

  • In Windows: Go to Device Manager, then System Devices > ACPI Lid. Right-click and choose Update Driver to ensure it's up-to-date.
  • In BIOS: Check if there's a setting for Lid Open Power On or something similar. If it’s turned off, enable it.

Missing or Corrupted Driver:

You mentioned a driver issue that needs to be installed. This could be related to power management or chipset drivers that might not have been installed correctly during your fresh Windows installation.

  • To update drivers: Go to Device Manager, look for any devices with a yellow triangle (which indicates missing or faulty drivers), and try to update those drivers.
  • Chipset and Power Management Drivers: Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website. Look for the latest Chipset Drivers, BIOS, and Power Management Drivers for your specific HP Envy x360 model.

Reinstall Windows 11:

If the issue persists, I recommend doing a clean reinstall of Windows 11 to make sure all the necessary drivers are correctly installed during the process. If your Windows 11 was preinstalled, you can activate it using the license key embedded in the system, so make sure you're connected to the internet when reinstalling.

If you have the USB drive with the Windows installation image, boot from it and choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC to perform a fresh installation while keeping your personal files intact.

Check for Windows Updates:

After the installation, make sure your system is fully updated by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. This will install any essential updates that might include missing drivers.

Once you’ve updated all drivers, check again if the laptop powers up when you open the lid.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
