@Paul- which Win7 64 drivers did you choose, exactly? Like you, I plan on formatting the SSD with the windows install disk and wiping the disk of all partitions- and doijng a CLEAN install of Windows 7 x64.
What are the gotchas, and what (if any) specific model did you use the drivers from (other than firmware and BIOS)?
The OMEN i just bought is the 17-AN011DX model (17.3 with the NVidia 1050m Ti and Kaby Lake I7)
Thanks in advance!!

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I don't know exactly how to do that on your model.
There should be a recovery manager program in the W10 programs list and there should be an option to create recovery media.
When you find the program and launch it, you it should provide instructions to create recovery media.
I do know that you will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for the process.
You only get one shot at doing it, so make sure you do it right the first time.

Hi, @Fooldall1
I was only suggesting recommended drivers to try. I do not own any of the model notebooks in the discussion, and did not install W7 on any of them myself.
There is one potental gotcha...Intel only developed W10 drivers for the Intel graphics adapter.
However, this discussion provides the details where one person modified a W10 graphics driver to work on W7. See Bruce BTS' post. I have no idea if this mod will work on your specific model notebook.
Before attempting to install W7, make the W10 recovery media first. Once you install W7, the W10 recovery manager program will no longer work.
Intel Chipset installation utility...the 2nd file down on the left side of the webpage is the auto install file.
You will also need the W7 USB driver.
Nvidia graphics (you must be able to get the Intel graphics to work first before installing the Nvidia graphics driver.

Audio, ethernet and card reader...
Audio: Accept the agreement. Download and install the 2nd driver on the list and restart the PC.
Ethernet: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the W7 driver at the link below.
Card reader: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the 1st file listed at the link below...
Wireless:
Bluetooth:
Post the hardware ID's for any missing drivers you still need after installing the above drivers.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.

Once again...this all hinges on if you can use that Intel graphics driver mod on your model too.

Awesome, Paul.
Thanks, Sir! How does one create an HP recovery USB? I know how to create one to install Windows- but I imagine the image and process is somewhere on the computer.
I just hate Win10 and all the built in Spyware.
