Pavilion dv7t-6100
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Got blue screen, on re-boot “create file fail” OK.. hp recovery manager opens. Only options selectable are contact support or perform maintenance tasks. Maintenance tasks opens computer checkup with 3 options but the only one selectable is open a command prompt. I have no idea what to do from this point.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to try clean installing W7 if you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 Home product key on your PC's case, using this method...

Make your own plain W7 home premium installation media.

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

Use the Microsoft utility I have zipped up and attached below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD.

Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.

Otherwise you will have to buy recovery media from this non-HP vendor as HP no longer sells recovery media for that model series...
