Omen 15T
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Omen 15T needs to be reinitialized. It has been corrupted beyond current repair tools (checkdsk, safe mode, other suggestions I found online).

I have a Recovery USB I created when I first got the device.

I have already backed up all my documents, Outlook data file, pictures, videos, etc.

I am an IT professional so please don't try to give me the basics (e.g. have you rebooted? have you tried running repair? etc.).

What are the specific steps to recover from my USB memory stick and will it wipe out and start from scratch?

Thank you.

Jose

@jfguerrap

Please boot from Recovery media and follow on screen instructions.

Other option: do a clean install of Windows 10 using

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The tool will allow you to make a bootable installation media (USB/DVD) and you can use installation media to install.

During the installation process if you are asked to enter a product key, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install and then automatically activate once you are connected to the internet using the key embedded in BIOS of your machine.

You can also mount downloaded ISO file as DVD drive and run Setup from there.

Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page. Normally few Windows 10 updates can install nearly all drivers for you.

Regards.

Thank you for your quick response. I have a few additional questions:

1) To reboot from my Recovery USB I need to change my Bios to tell it to go there rather than the C drive boot?

2) My OMen 15T came with preconfigured software. If the Recovery USB doesnt work and I instead use  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 iI assume I will not get the preconfigired software.

3) Finally, and  asked this in my original post, will this process wipe my laptop clean? I don't mind if it does by the way.

Thanks again!
