Hello HP Community,

I am experiencing a recurring system crash on my HP Omen 15 laptop  (OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0770ng) with the following BSOD:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)

Analysis points to the GlPciSD.sys driver (Memory Technology Device / card reader) as the likely cause. This crash occurs almost daily, disrupting work and risking data loss.

Steps I’ve Already Tried:

  • Verified RAM with diagnostics; no errors found.

  • Checked Event Viewer; no conclusive memory errors.

  • updated BIOS to version F.15
  • Attempted updating the Genesys Logic SD card reader driver:

    • Installed the latest HP driver (v1.1.14.0, 27.05.2020) — still causes crashes.

    • Installed Windows 10 driver (v1.1.14.0 revA, 17.11.2020) manually — installation reports success but version remains unchanged.

    • Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver — version reverts to old driver again.

  • Checked Windows Update — no newer driver offered.

Problem:

  • HP does not provide a Windows 11 driver for this device.

  • Warranty has expired, so standard support options are unavailable.

Request to the Community / HP:

  • Is there an official Windows 11-compatible driver available for this device?

  • If yes, could someone provide guidance on installing it successfully, given that the manual install attempts fail?

I’ve found a similar request from 2020 where the solution suggested contacting HP Support, but this is not possible in my case due to warranty expiration. I hope the community or HP engineers can provide a safe and working driver or installation method.

Thank you for any guidance!

You're very welcome.

I visited the Microsoft Update Catalog website and found a W11 driver that has support for the hardware ID you posted.

Company: Genesys Logic,Inc.
Driver Manufacturer: Genesys Logic
Driver Class: OtherHardware
Driver Model: Genesys Logic PCIE card reader device
Driver Provider: Genesys Logic
Version: 1.1.51.0
Version Date: 3/31/2025

1st file on the page.

Since it is a cabinet file, I have taken the liberty of converting the file to a driver folder so you can manually install the driver from the PCI\VEN_17A0&DEV_9750 device in the device manager.

I have zipped that file up and attached it below.

To manually install the driver, download and unzip the attached file to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.

Click on the Genesys Logic device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then restart the notebook.

Below is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file that shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:

Hi:

The latest W10 driver on the 15-ek0xxx model series' support page is this one:

OMEN 15-ek0000 Laptop PC series Software and Driver Details

Have you tried the above driver?

If so, the only other suggestion I can offer would be to see if the info at the link below is of help to you:

HP Pavilion 17 SD Card Reader Driver for Windows 11 - Alcor ... - HP Support Community - 8589649

Hi, thanks a lot for your reply!

Regarding the Alcor Micro driver — my hardware ID is PCI\VEN_17A0&DEV_9750, which corresponds to Genesys Logic, not Alcor. So I don’t think that driver would apply to my device.

I did try this though:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/swdetails/omen-15-ek0000-laptop-pc-series/32827267/swItemId/ob-...

If you (or anyone else) know of a newer Genesys Logic driver for Windows 11, I’d really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks again for taking the time to help!
