Hello.  My mom has an older hp laptop.

HP Stream 11-ak0010nr Laptop 11.6" Screen Intel Celeron 4GB Memory
She has not used it in a couple of years due to the fact she did not have Internet available where she lived. She has moved and now is in a place where she gets Internet however, she cannot remember her password nor the answers to her Security questions so the computer is telling us that we need to buy a USB reset I have no idea what that is or what to buy. Could somebody please help tell me what I need to get her back into her computer so she can use it? Thank you so much

Hi:

Recovery media is not available for that model notebook.

The only option you have would be to use another Windows PC and make a bootable W10 installation USB flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10

Boot from the installation media and when you get to the screen that asks, 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.

Note, that all data presently on the drive will be lost.

Click Next, and W10 will install.

After the installation has completed, you can install the drivers and available software from the notebook's support page.

If you prefer, you can make a bootable W11 installation flash drive from the link below and install W11, which may be a better idea since W10 goes out of support in less than 1.5 months.

Download Windows 11
