Laptop model 15-r264dx
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I bought a recovery USB stick (USB-Windows 8.1 64-bit Recovery Kit) due to a hard drive failure.
No issues showed up during the recovery process, but it fails on restart.
I have a *.WIM error file if helpful.

The error message on Restart is; "MSCU package did not meet MDA M3 requirement"

How can I resolve?
thanks, Phil

So I have gotten the Recovey to work.

Because I changed the hard drive, I had to reset the Bios to Factory Default, and then when I reran the Recovery USB, everything works correctly.

All done. Thanks

If you purchased the Recovery Media recently it should be covered under software warranty even though your laptop is not. Try contacting HP support using the link here:

thanks CherylG.

I am trying one more attempt. I found on another discussion that resetting the BIOS to default might work.

I have reset it and am running the recovery again.

I'll see if this works.
