Hi:

HP no longer sells recovery media for your notebook since it is more than 5 years old.

You can reinstall W10 for free...

You can make a bootable W10 installation flash drive using the media creation tool at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Thank you for the quick and valuable feedback. I have the bootable flash drive for win10, will it suffice to in case if there are any hardware issues? I just wanted to create the recovery drive to set the system to factory settings if there any hardware failure.

@win10upgrade

I personally would recommend a different approach -- that of creating a System Image of your PC in its current state.  That way, if you need to restore the PC to its current state, you don't have to go through all the grief of reinstalling all your applications and hours and hours of Windows Updates, only to get back to a working PC.

------------------------

I personally prefer to use third-party Backup solutions as they tend to be both more flexible and more reliable than any built-in solutions.

Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives.

What I recommend is the following:
1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) from here: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick
3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CD

My experience is that MR, when using the High Compression option, typically can compress the saved image file to about 50% of the USED space in the OS partition. This means if you have an 80GB OS partition, and 40GB is used, MR only needs about 20GB to store the image file.

I use this all the time and it typically takes less than 15 minutes to do the image backup and about the same time or less to do a restore.

Plus, MR has the option to Add a Recovery Boot Menu entry. This allows you then to boot into WinRE, and you can then use that to do a restore -- when you can't boot into Windows!

NOW, you have the means to restore a full working system from the external drive or USB stick in only a few minutes.

You're very welcome.

Since you can't buy recovery media for your notebook, I would use  WAWood's suggestion of using Macrium Reflect to create a system image of your current installation.

That is as close as you are going to get to where you are at now.

I use Macrium reflect all the time and make a monthly backup of the PC I am replying to you with.

I just assumed from your original question that you wanted a W8 recovery disk to reset the PC to factory.

There won't be W10 recovery media, which is why I gave you the info for how to clean install Windows without buying a new operating system.

If you just want a safe way to restore your notebook's current configuration, use Macrium Reflect.
