Hello my dw1083wm model HP laptop when I turn it on says hp welcome then goes to the blue screen says 68% installing and then just turns off and keeps doing it. I tried doing a hard reset but it still does it and I clicked “fn” and “esc” together and did a test and it showed everything was fine. How do I fix this?

Hi @McCJa96,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • This allows you to start Windows with minimal drivers and should stop the update process.
  • To enter Safe Mode:
    1. Turn off your laptop.
    2. Turn it on and immediately start pressing the F8 key repeatedly until the boot menu appears.
    3. Select Safe Mode using the arrow keys and press Enter.

Cancel Pending Updates:

  • Once in Safe Mode, you might be able to cancel any pending updates that are causing the issue.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Look for any pending updates and cancel them.

System Restore:

  • You can try restoring your system to a point before the update began.
  • Type "System Restore" in the Windows search bar.
  • Choose a restore point dated before the issue started.

Check Disk Space:

  • Ensure you have enough free disk space available for the update process.
  • In Safe Mode, check This PC > Local Disk (C:) and free up some space if necessary.

Run Windows Update Troubleshooter:

  • In Safe Mode, you can use the built-in troubleshooter for updates.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select 'Windows Update' and follow the on-screen instructions.

Repair Windows:

  • If the issue persists, consider repairing your Windows installation.
  • You can use a Windows 10 installation media or perform it directly from settings:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    • Follow prompts under Reset this PC.

Advanced BIOS Options:

  • If accessible, check your BIOS settings for boot options that might affect the startup sequence.
  • Restart and enter BIOS by pressing F10 during boot. Review any boot configurations that could be looping the update process.

I hope this helps.
