@MBONAFEDEX, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

If your Samsung phone connects but doesn’t show up in File Explorer or other resources, it’s likely a driver or USB mode issue. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve it:

Check USB Mode on Samsung Phone

  • After connecting the phone via USB, unlock the phone.
  • Swipe down the notification panel and look for “USB for file transfer” or similar.
  • Make sure it’s set to “File Transfer (MTP)” and not “Charging only”.

Install Samsung USB Drivers

  • Download and install the official Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones.

Update or Reinstall MTP Drivers on Windows

  • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
  • Expand Portable Devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  • If you see your phone listed (e.g., “Samsung Mobile USB MTP Device”), right-click → Uninstall device.
  • Disconnect the phone, restart your PC, and reconnect the phone to reinstall the driver.

Enable Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)

  • Open Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  • If your phone appears as a device, right-click → Troubleshoot.
  • Windows may auto-fix missing MTP components.

Install Windows Media Feature Pack (if needed)

  • If you're using Windows 10 N or KN editions, MTP won’t work without the Media Feature Pack.

Additional Tips:

  • Try a different USB cable (preferably the original Samsung cable).
  • Use a different USB port (avoid USB hubs).
  • Make sure your phone is unlocked when connecting.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
