HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cp0000 (2Q7W8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have had this Laptop since 2022. I have used it a little but not often. I do updates and occasionally work on my book and other things. I am very careful what I do on it. I recently had a bios update run on my computer and now I have 177 GB of HD space total on my laptop and it is saying I am out of space. I don't know what is going on.

The 1TB was probably the capacity of the internal drive, not the free space on it.  If this was your only drive, you would have had Windows installed on it and that would have consumed at least 64GB of that space, with apps and personal files consuming more of the space.

Where is it saying that the free space is now only 177GB -- as a BIOS update is not going to consume any noticeable disk space?

It's saying that is all my HD is in size. I'm also seeing registry errors that weren't there before.  I am considering reinstalling the BIOS update and if that doesn't work then doing a factory reset. I'm not sure if either of those will help though.
