Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

If I shutdown my laptop, it turns off, but then starts up again after a couple of seconds.

Also if I  close the lid, the laptop hibernates or sleeps (I have tried both), but then starts up again after a couple of seconds.

What I have done to try and resolve the issue:

- Reset the BIOS  (F10, F9 then save)

- Formatted and Re-installed the entire system

- Disabled "Automatically restart after system failure".

To shutdown I have to hold the button until the system is off.

If it helps I found this in Event Viewer after shutting the lid and reopening ...

After seemingly trying 'EVERYTHING' on the internet I have finally after many weeks of frustration managed to fix the issue.  All I needed to do was reset the CMOS, which can be done easily by holding the "Windows' Key" and "v" during boot-up.

You do not need to remove your battery.

Details on resetting the CMOS can be found here : https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

Thanks, will do.  I was reconciling myself to having to send it in for repair.  Very glad I managed to avoid being parted from my laptop.
