Hi @mrhoax

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying that out clearly—this combination of a blue screen, “boot disk not found”, and hardware diagnostics showing “not available” strongly suggests a storage-level failure or a BIOS misconfiguration

Let’s walk through a structured recovery path to help you get your HP system back up and running.

Step-by-Step Recovery for “Boot Disk Not Found” + Blue Screen

1. Reset BIOS to Default Settings

This ensures the boot order and storage controller mode are correct.

  • Power off the computer completely
  • Power it on and immediately press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS Setup
  • Navigate to Exit > Load Setup Defaults
  • Confirm and Save Changes
  • Restart and check if the boot disk is now detected

2. Check Boot Order

Make sure the internal drive is set as the primary boot device.

  • In BIOS Setup, go to System Configuration > Boot Options
  • Ensure your internal SSD/HDD is listed and set as the first boot device
  • Save and exit

3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics from Startup Menu

Even if it previously said “not available,” try again after BIOS reset.

  • Power on and press Esc, then F2 to enter HP Diagnostics
  • Go to Component Tests > Storage > Quick Test
  • If the drive is detected, run the Extensive Test for deeper analysis

You can find full instructions on HP’s official guide: HP PCs – Hard Disk 3F0 Boot Device Not Found Error

4. Reseat or Test the Drive Externally

If the drive is still not detected:

  • Power off and open the back panel (if accessible)
  • Carefully remove and reinsert the SSD/HDD
  • Alternatively, connect the drive to another PC using a USB-to-SATA or USB-to-M.2 adapter to confirm functionality

5. Rebuild Boot Sector (if drive is detected but OS won’t load)

If the drive appears in BIOS but Windows won’t boot:

  • Boot from a Windows 11 USB installer
  • Open Command Prompt via Shift+F10
  • Use bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot to repair the boot sector

If the drive fails diagnostics or remains undetectable, it may need replacement.

You're not alone in this, and we’ll get your system back on track.
