Hi @AComputer1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A blue screen issue (BSOD) on an HP Pavilion running Windows 10 can be caused by hardware or software problems, such as driver conflicts, hardware failures, or corrupted system files. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve it.

Identify the Error Code

  1. Note the stop code and error message displayed on the blue screen (e.g., "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL," "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA").
  2. Restart the computer and observe if the error consistently appears under specific conditions.

Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Restart your PC and press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup to enter recovery mode.
  2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  3. After restart, choose 4: Enable Safe Mode or 5: Enable Safe Mode with Networking.
  4. If the BSOD does not appear in Safe Mode, the issue is likely software-related.

Check for Updates

  1. Windows Update:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Check for and install updates.
  2. Driver Updates:
    • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
    • Right-click on any devices with a yellow warning icon and select Update Driver.

Use BlueScreenView

  • Download BlueScreenView (a free tool) to analyze the BSOD dump files located in C:\Windows\Minidump.
  • Identify problematic drivers or system files.

Run Diagnostics

  1. Check Hardware:
    • Restart the PC and press F2 or Esc to enter HP’s diagnostic menu.
    • Run memory and hard drive tests to rule out hardware issues.
  2. Event Viewer:
    • Press Win + R, type eventvwr, and check Windows Logs > System for critical errors.

Repair System Files

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator:
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • After completion, type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
  2. Restart the system.

Check Recent Changes

  • Uninstall recently added software or drivers:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program or Device Manager for drivers.
  • Perform a System Restore:
    • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.

Reset or Reinstall Windows

If the issue persists:

  1. Backup your data.
  2. Reset Windows:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.
    • Choose Keep my files or Remove everything.
  3. Reinstall Windows from a bootable USB if resetting does not help.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
